These turn into sugar, namely glucose, as well as overwhelm your liver with fat, which can’t process this excess. The result is high blood sugar, excess fat, weight gain, and a host of other health problems. This is the same phenomenon that the Atkins Diet and other low carb diets aim to correct.

The problem with these diets is that they are a quick-fix, and while they have good short-term results, they are not a permanent solution. In the study, which lasted 22 weeks, a group of people, ages 22-46, were given the green coffee bean extract for part of the research period. The rest of the time they were given a placebo. All participants in the study maintained an average level of physical activity, and ate 2,400 calories a day. During the period when they were taking the green coffee bean supplement, they experienced their greatest weight loss. The interval with the placebo produced little or no change.

The results of this study were amazing. In just this short time period, Dr. Vinson found that his subjects experienced:

- an average weight lose of 17 pounds
- an average 10.5% reduction in body weight
- an average 16% reduction in body fat
- more energy
- no side effects

All of these results were gained with no change in lifestyle or eating habits, and are nearly identical to results gleaned from other studies.

Reviews of this study have also been done by Connie Diekman, as registered dietician, and Dr. Louis Chang, of WebMD, who are encouraged by the results.
